What is our group about?

Sunnynook Scouts run an amazing group that brings great enjoyment and rewards to all those involved – children, leaders and parent helpers.

Our Leaders utilise a structured programme of adventure-based learning to help our youth develop their teamwork skills, confidence & responsibility. We aim to prepare them better for adulthood.

Eveything we do is built around developing 3 core values – “Have Respect”, “Be Positive” and “Do what is right”.

Everyone in our group takes part in weekly evening meetings, weekend camps and weekend activities.

Who is Scouting for?

Sunnyook Scout Group runs Keas (Year 1-3), Cubs (Year 4-6) and Scouts (Year 7-10). Some people remember scouts was just for boys. That’s old school – we now have heaps of girls too.

How much does it cost?

It costs $120 per term, which covers weekly meetings, insurance, membership etc. Camps cost extra, and the cost depends on the activities – typically a weekend camp costs $75. Sometimes we’ll have evening activities at commercial facitilites (e.g. a rock climbing wall) which might cost $10 – $20. We give discounts for multiple children, and for committee and leaders’ children.

Who runs it?

Everyone in our group is a volunteer, which is why we can keep the costs so low. We expect families to become involved – almost all our leaders and committee are parents of our youth members. All our Leaders are police-checked and go through an extensive training program which the group fully funds.

Where are we?

Our weekly meetings are in the Sunnynook Scout Hall, which is in Sunnynook Park. There is a carpark right outside.
