Rangitoto Overnight Camp

We went to Rangitoto on the ferry, and stayed overnight at the Devonport Scout Groups’ bach. On the first day we walked halfway around the island to the lighthouse and then up to the summit to watch the sunset, and toasted some s’mores.  We then explored the lava caves in the dark.  On Sunday we…


It was a great day to brush up our map reading and compass skills at Mahurangi Regional Park. All ticked off that part of their Silver Award, and Ella made us walk for 4 hours so she could tick off that part of her Gold Award.

Raft Camp – Wenderholm

We had an overnight camp at the Schischka Campgroup at Wenderholm Regional Park.  We had a swim in the estuary then practiced building our rafts in preparation for the Founders’ day raft race.  The first time they fell apart, so we had to practice some more and learnt to paddle them.
