Our Scouts had a great time hiking along the Waitawheta tramway track and stayed overnight at the Waitawheta hut. They braved the cool weather and practiced river crossings.
The Sunnynook Scout Group celebrated its 40th Birthday with a dinner for around 130 people. It was great to have a lot of former youth members, Leaders and Committee and we had the whole life of the group covered from day 1 until present. We had people in attendance who started the group, and some…
Makarau in the winter can get very cold overnight – there was frost on the tents in the morning. Nice during the day though and our Scouts got to do some cool activities to tick off some of their Awards Scheme requirements. A highlight was the merry go round which the Scouts all had a…

Around 70 of our Keas, Cubs and Scouts and 15 adventurous Leaders got together for a great weekend camping out and doing all sorts of cool scouting stuff.

We had a lot of new Scouts join this year and they had the opportunity to come to our annual raft building camp at the end of week 1. We practiced building and rowing our rafts a few times so we got our teamwork sorted out. We are all ready for the zone race next…
Torrential rain and 100km/hr winds were forecast, so we went camping. No problems for the Sunnynook Scouts who do a proper job of putting up their tents. We went snorkelling with “Experiencing Marine Reserves” which was good fun, but visibility was very poor due to the storm. We had a campfire in the evening and…
