Kelly Tarlton’s Sleepover
The Sunnynook Cubs had a great time at the Rangitoto Zone Kelly Tarlton’s Sleepover. We learnt about the ocean and got to help out at feeding time. We also slept in the tunnel with the sharks and rays.

Our Keas, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers all got together for a great Group Camp at Schlaepfer Park. We did a range of traditional Scouting things, like orienteering, cooking over fires and making pioneering structures. We also had an awesome water fight, and a really good campfire.
We were lucky to have our Group camp a couple of weeks before lockdown. Around 70 of our Keas, Cubs and Scouts combined into patrols and had some great fun.
It was a great day for Sunnynook at the Zone Founders Day event at Brown’s Bay. Our Keas got first place in the sandcastle competition. Our Cubs got first place in the Sand sculpting competition. Around 70 of our Keas, Cubs and Scouts and 15 adventurous Leaders got together for a great weekend camping out and doing all sorts of cool scouting stuff.
Our whole group got out to Sanders Reserve on Sunday for a Bike Day. It’s a great facility for a event that can cover such a wider range of ages and we had about 50 Keas, Cubs and Scouts attend along with their families.
Our Scouts invited the Cubs for a walk around Lake Wainamu, near Bethels Beach. It was very muddy! Our Scouts BBQed some sausages for lunch, then we had a fun time sandboarding down the Giant Dunes. Everyone got filthy, but had a great time.
